Biography
Luiza Cocora is a screenwriter and director whose work navigates the space between the intimate and the political. Her short films have been showcased at prestigious international festivals such as TIFF for If This Isn't Love and Our Remaining Lives, as well as Palm Springs, Encounters, Grenoble, and Wandering Reel, where she received a Curator’s Choice Award, alongside numerous other events across Europe and the Americas. She is a recipient of several major development programs, including the TIFF Filmmaker Lab, La Forge – Québec Cinéma / Netflix, and the Regard sur Montréal residency, where she developed her documentary short Voltige, which was screened at Hot Docs and during the RIDM Closing Night. Her projects have received support from the Canada Council for the Arts, CAM, SODEC, CALQ, Telefilm Canada, the Harold Greenberg Fund, and Romania’s CNC, recognizing both the writing and production of her works in film and theater.
